As our Pick Up Posse and Median Minders work around dowtown Carmel to do their part of helping to take Carmel from special to spectacular, they sometime run into situations that need some special attention. So, we formed a small group of volunteers that prioritize those areas and take care of them. They do whatever it takes, either by themselves, with professional gardeners, or with the assistance of Carmel Public Works.
Each week, a different part of downtown is selected and 2-3 volunteers go out with their weeding tools, weed whacker, brooms, and blowers to attack the problem. Little by little, they will be covering all parts of the 25 square blocks that make up downtown. They also go back and do routine maintenance to keep everything looking tidy!
One of the places that all Carmelites must go to often is the Post Office. Since there aren’t regular street addresses all mail is delivered to the Post Office and residents have to go there to pick it up. Our Downtown Detailers love to keep the parking lot and tree wells cleaned up. Give them some love if you see them working.
All the cute bump outs and tree wells around downtown take quite a beating from passersby and the many dogs that Carmel is famous for. Our Downtown Detail team loves to clean them up and introduce plantings, pots, or just remove the weeds.
