Over the last 3 years, we’ve been working with local businesses to put positive, mindful messaging in bill presenters in restaurants and signs in retail stores. You might have seen these laminated inserts at the Cypress Inn, Dametra, Anton & Michel and about 15 other restaurants around town. It has been a labor of love requiring replacing them as the presenters wear out, keeping track of all the different versions, including special ones for Cultura’s made of wood. But we get very positive comments from people about it and it’s nice that their customers think that the restaurants are actually doing it!

During COVID, we haven’t been active in keeping them updated as we figured they would be replaced with contactless payment systems. Well, that hasn’t happened, so we are now creating new ones with our new logo and a revised message that includes following health department guidelines and “Leave no Trace”.

Our original logo was literally a horse and buggy, our idea to remind people that this town was formed in that era and you should drive slowly and safely in the Village. We updated the logo after a while to de-emphasize the horse and buggy and our new logo eliminated it all together.

Why? Because we have greatly expanded our mission as you’ll see on this website. We will still be doing what we can to encourage mindful behavior on issues like Traffic Calming because that’s part of the “Safe” part of “Keeping Carmel Beautiful, Safe, and Inviting”. But, we are now actively working in the Village actually doing maintenance and improvement projects and, as you can see all over this site, we need your assistance.

We are looking for comments on what we are doing and other things you think we should be doing. We appreciate your support, including chatting with us when you pass our Volunteers out doing this or that around town.
