On July 31st, Carmel Cares celebrated it’s one year anniversary of doing maintenance and improvement projects in Carmel-by-the-Sea with a gathering at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts Sculpture Garden. It seemed appropriate to gather there since it is one of the maintenance projects we have been supporting during that time.
Over 80 Carmel Cares volunteers, donors, and partners came together to have a very positive and uplifting experience featuring great food and wine from Mission Bistro. Nancy and Denny Hoeft and their dedicated neighborhood volunteers have been working tirelessly to create an oasis at the Cherry Center and it provided a beautiful backdrop for our gathering. I had a chance to review how we got started, Bob Harary, Carmel’s Public Works Director talked about the unique and productive partnership we’ve developed with the City of Carmel, Shirley Moon talked about the Scenic Pathway Project crew and Councilperson Karen Ferlito encouraged everyone to “Care” and volunteer to help keep Carmel beautiful, safe, and inviting.
