What we need

We think that Carmel residents will be highly supportive of this effort. But, we need funding to get this program off the ground

Locate and Secure the proper K9 dog

We plan on locating a K9 that will specialize in tracking and search and rescue. It will also become a visible part of the Carmel Police Department while on walking patrol around town.

Training the K9 and Officer

Our K9 and the assigned officer will need to receive specialized training from an authorized firm.

Modify existing patrol car

We will need to retrofit an existing car with a secure kennel, fans, and other specialized equipment so the K9 will be comfortable and safe in the car.

Maintain the K9 and Program

We need to raise funds to pay for veterinary care and other expenses related to the program over time.

Benefits of a Carmel K9 Program

Community Engagement

Our K9 will become a common sight in the Village. The controlling Officer will be out and about on a regular basis, interacting with residents and visitors to introduce K9 and discuss how K9 assists in keeping Carmel safe.

Officer Assistance

K9 will be ready to assist in searching for a missing person, securing a property that has reported an intruder, or locating something that is hidden from sight.

Other Assistance

K9 will be highly trained and disciplined to assist in many other types of situations. Once I know what they are we will put that information here.
